Department of Physics and Electronics


Inception and Growth

The department of Physics and Electronics was established at the inception of the college in the year 1993. The department has well-furnished, spacious and well-equipped laboratories. The department has four laboratories (Mechanics lab, Optics lab and two Electronics labs) spanning a total area of 3080sqft.
Department has membership with Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and is one of the centers for conducting National Graduate Physics Examination (NGPE).
The department is selected under DBT STAR COLLEGE scheme.
The department has facilities to carry Research at PhD level. One of our faculty members has completed a Minor Research Project under UGC-SERO.
Department is an active Nodal Centre for Virtual labs by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University.
Currently there are 2 sections of MPCs and 2 sections of MECs with strength of about 550 students and 8 experienced faculty members in the department

  • Four of BSc MECs IIIyr students presented a poster at an International Conference on “Bridging Heritage Ancient Research & Advanced Technologies” on the occasion of Silver Jubilee of SRIVT ( Sri Venkateshwara Research Institute of Vedic Traditions) held on 31st Aug & 1st Sept, 2024 at T-Hub, Hyderabad.

    Induction Program for I yr students

    Mr. Rajaneesh Donthi, is a Multidisciplinary Nuclear Instrumentation Physicist and expert in HPGe Detectors, Analog & Advanced Digital FPGA-DAQ Electronics, Signal Processing, and Gamma-Driven Experiments. He with his vast experience in various fields of Physics and Electronics discussed about the various possibilities in different streams of Higher Education, Career planning, Innovative research updates and development, future technologies: Role of AI ML DL and NN and Quantum Communication and Quantum devices.
    He spoke about various career domains and employment opportunities that are suitable for students with different abilities and skill sets. The lecture provided valuable insights into the diverse career options available and the qualifications required for each field. Overall, the session was highly informative and helped students gain a clear understanding of their potential career paths, enabling them to make more informed decisions about their future.

    Induction Program for I yr students

    The Department of Physics & Electronics, Bhavan’s Vivekananda College of Science Humanities and Commerce has organized an Induction Program for the students who got admitted to the B.Sc. MPCs & MECs I yr Programs in association with Mathematics & Statistics and also Computer Science departments. The details of the program are briefed below
    The Program is scheduled for two days on 11/06/26 and 12/06/26 during which all the Heads of the departments introduced each individual department, achievements and activities. The faculty who takes up each of the course of respective Programs are being introduced to the students. The Program started off with Mrs M. Prasanna, Head, department of Physics and Electronics welcomed the students and discussed the almanac for the current academic year 2026-27. She also briefed them on all the rules that the students will have to abide by themselves.
    All the various faculty coordinators of different Clubs of the college like NCC/ BSG; NSS/YRC/UBA; CHE/IKS; PSCIFE/ Fusion Tech/Xpressionz and more particularly the ElectriPhying team and Vyoma Club of the department introduced themselves and welcomed all the students to participate in curricular and extracurricular activities. The program also includes an online talk with few of the alumni students. The schedule for Induction Program is as follows
